With all of today’s technological advances, aren’t brand new homes the most environmentally sound? Not necessarily. For homeowners who truly value sustainability, existing homes are almost always the very best option!

Gain a new understanding of sustainability that is both broad and deep, ranging from basic terminology and concepts, to the relevance of size and context. We will even crunch numbers for those who crave real data over warm fuzzy feelings. You'll learn how old homes can adapt to change and reduce cost of living, and you'll get a thorough introduction to traditional building materials, good design, and energy efficiency.

This session is a collaboration between Rethos: Places Reimagined and the City of Northfield. Northfield and Rethos are part of GreenStep Cities, a program to help cities achieve sustainability and quality of life goals.

This is a free event and open to all. The Rethos education program is funded in part by the State of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.
