ADVANCING EQUITY IN
HISTORIC PRESERVATION

Historic Preservation, like many other fields, has not always been the most inclusive. The Rethos team has long been part of efforts across the country to change historic preservation and make it more inclusive. From strategic plans that guide our organization forward to individual training and new programs, Rethos is working to support BIPOC, women, and working families.

Until we tell everyone's stories and support diverse work, we are not doing historic preservation right.

EQUITY EMBEDDED IN OUR STRATEGIC PLANNING
In 2021, Rethos embarked upon 18 months of strategic planning lead by the Dendros Group. Our board and staff used this opportunity to build organizational cohesion, delve into equity issues in our field, and create a 5-year framework where equity isn't a chapter but underscores all we are working toward.

NATURALLY OCCURRING AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Rethos Policy Institute advocates at the MN Legislature for the retention of our existing housing stock. Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH) is key to providing good quality homes to seniors, working families, and first-time homeowners.
