Rethos has been hard at work at the Capitol, trying to protect our Historic Tax Credit and keep the momentum of building rehabilitation activity all across the state.
We’ve had bills introduced in the MN House and Senate that would:
retain the HTC as a single, refundable credit (not conforming to changes at the Federal level that require the credit to be spread over five years),
eliminate the sunset date (currently June 30, 2021) and
allow the credit to be transferred more than once.
We cannot protect the Historic Tax Credit without your help! Here are five, easy ways that you can do your part to help our communities in Minnesota.
Contact your Senator and Representative and ask them to support the HTC language in the House omnibus taxes bill, HF2125. (Not sure who represents you? You can look it up here!)
Ask your city council and mayor to pass a resolution in support of the Minnesota Historic Tax Credit and the bills that have been introduced.
Arrange to advocate with us at the State Capitol. Contact our Policy Director, Erin, to arrange a time to meet with your Legislators.

Contact our bill authors and thank them for their support. Let them know that you value the contribution that the state makes to thriving, historic communities through this effective public-private partnership. If there are projects in your community that have been rehabilitated through the use of the Historic Tax Credit, tell them about it.
