Learn how to install and maintain prairie gardens at two new landscaping classes – Prairie Gardens Install and Prairie Gardens Maintenance.  Taught by Ben Wood, a local environmental expert and organic farmer,  these classes will teach you how prairie gardens not only provide  much-needed habitat for wildlife and help restore and sustain the  environment, they also protect buildings and structures by reducing air  pollution and providing moisture control, both of which can cause  significant damage. Learn how prairie gardens can enhance the beauty and  function of your property.

Prairie Gardens Maintenance takes  place June 25th, 10 a.m. to noon, at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser  Memorial Museum (2151 Lindbergh Drive South) in Little Falls. The  Weyerhaeuser Museum’s prairie gardens were established in 1977 and are  among the first to be installed by Prairie Restorations, then a new  company in central Minnesota. Prairie Restorations is based in  Princeton, Minnesota, and is one of the first companies in the nation  devoted to the design, restoration and management of native plant  communities. During this class, Ben will talk about the importance of  controlled burns, mowing and weeding. He will provide many tips on how  to keep your prairie garden healthy and growing, as well as diverse and  attractive.

Join Ben for one or more of these new classes and learn about the integral role healthy landscapes play in preservation.

This class is brought to you by Rethos: Places  Reimagined. The Rethos Education program is funded in part by the State  of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the  Minnesota Historical Society.
