Rethos is hosting the annual Minnesota Main Streets Conference June 5-6 in Lincoln Park, Duluth, MN. The Conference is an opportunity for designated Minnesota Main Street districts as well as any community interested in revitalizing their historic downtown and business districts to obtain tools, knowledge, and resources to help their communities flourish. Main Street is an asset-based economic development program that uses historic preservation as a tool. This conference offers sessions for communities with historic downtowns and neighborhood districts, regardless of participation or status in Minnesota Main Street programs.
This conference is designed for Main Street staff, board members, and volunteers; local Planning or Historic Preservation Commissioners; city staff; building owners; and anyone interested in downtown revitalization. Sessions will have information that is applicable to towns of less than 1,000 people to larger cities with historic commercial districts.
The Minnesota Main Streets Conference is held in a different Minnesota Main Street Community annually. Previous conferences have been held in Fairbault, Winona, and Owatonna.
During the conference, the 2025 Minnesota Main Street Awards will be announced. Nominations for Minnesota Main Street Community programs, volunteers, events, and initiatives can be submitted online here. Award categories are: Community Mobilization Award, Marketing Award, Public or Private Rehabilitation Award, Response and Rally Award, and Local Lightening Rod Award.
You can register on Rethos’ website the week of March 31st at the following link: https://www.rethos.org/main-streets-conference. Information on lodging and other conference related materials can also be found on that page, which will be updated regularly with new information.
