It is therefore understandable that the American public has reacted strongly to the demolition of the historic East Wing and to the proposed design for the yet-to-be-constructed East Wing ballroom expansion.

We began with a board–staff lunch, giving everyone time to connect informally before settling in for our annual Board Retreat at Landmark Center. The day concluded with our Annual Meeting, attended by additional guests from our community, alongside the full Board of Directors and staff. 

We are pleased to announce that we raised over $95,000 for Rethos’ mission and programs. Contributions during our gala help fund initiatives like Minnesota Main Streets, Doors Open Minneapolis, the Duluth Lighthouse, and advocacy efforts like the CUB credit—each one making a lasting impact in preserving and reimagining the places we love.

We've revamped OHC! We're still offering the two-day course, but it has been restructured.

On Saturday, October 4, Rethos proudly brought the Doors Open event to Duluth for the very first time. More than 325 participants made at least 1,250 visits across the 10 Lincoln Park venues. 

The Minnesota Main Streets program is preparing for its twelfth Deep Dive event.

I invite the supporters of Rethos to learn more about our Main Street program and visit these communities. Historic buildings give an immediate unique sense of place to each of our program areas, so preservation is a key element to Design and Promotion – two of the Main Street Four Point Approaches™.

Another successful Minnesota Main Streets State Conference is now in the books. With program directors, board members, community leaders, and others from across the state (and a few from Wisconsin, too) dedicated to revitalizing and celebrating the heart of their towns and cities.  

The Federal programs that administer, support, and fund historic preservation and community development are threatened by cuts.

Budget cuts are particularly threatening to Main Street communities and underserved communities in urban and suburban areas, as they help fund important community efforts that support small towns, historic buildings, and local businesses.
